Cultured Marble
Cultured marble is an inexpensive alternative to natural marble or granite. Unlike natural marble, cultured marble is nonporous, which means it resists stains from common bathroom products. While durable, it’s not as tough as quartz or solid-surface materials. It has a very shiny finish.
Solid Surface
Solid Surface materials are mineral dust (primarily marble) and acrylic or polyester resins. A popular name brand is Dupont "Corian". They are durable and have a matte appearance. Nearly non-porous, which makes it easy to clean and maintain. UV Resistant, minor scratches can be buffed out.
Quartz
Natural Quartzite is 100% natural and comes directly from the earth. Manufactured Quartz (also called “engineered stone”) offers a wider range of colors and patterns. It has a natural luster with a more consistent color and uniform appearance. It is made of 95% crushed quartz giving it impressive hardness and inherent durability. It won’t chip, crack, or break.
Granite
Granite is incredibly tough and resistant to wear and tear. It can easily withstand daily use, moisture, and humidity. It is a natural coarse-grained igneous rock that forms from magma. It is porous, which means it needs periodic sealing to prevent stains. It’s also heavy, so proper support and engineering of bathroom cabinets are required to handle the weight, as well as professional installation to ensure stability.
Natural Marble
Marble is among the most expensive natural stone material. It is porous, which means it can absorb water. Regular sealing and care are necessary, to prevent stains, etching, and moisture intrusion. According to NAHB, marble can last over 100 years, with an estimated return on the investment up to 200% due to its durability and timeless appeal.
Soapstone
Soapstone is 100% natural, primarily made up of talc. It adds a feeling of warmth to a room. Its rich, earthy tones have depth, and the stone develops a soft, leathery texture after repeated oiling. It is non-porous so spills can be easily wiped away without staining, also, it is naturally bacteria resistant. It can scratch and dent but is easily repaired with sanding. To maintain its appearance, soapstone needs regular oiling.

Concrete allows for flexibility in design and there are many available color options achieved through acid etching. It can also mimic natural stone. Concrete countertops are long-lasting and durable, as well as scratch resistant. They do require regular sealing, at least annually.
